All members of the Citywide Council on Special Education are elected officials who were selected by the parents of students with an IEP in the NYC DOE. There are times were vacancies open due to resignation or ineligibility due to address or graduating student. Check our website for any vacancy updates. Vacancies are rare, so be sure to watch out for information in January of 2023 when the next election period will open for the 2023-2025 term.
The best person to contact first would be your child's teacher and the IEP team of providers. The School Based Support Team at the school will also be able to provide you with direct information about your child's IEP. If you still have a concern, you can send an email to specialeducation@schools.nyc.gov and be sure to include your child's OSIS#. If you still have questions or concerns and want to get a parent's perspective, feel free to email us at ccse@schools.nyc.gov.
Subscribe to our website for updates on our monthly meetings. The public is invited to comment or share questions or concerns during our monthly calendar meetings. You can also follow our Facebook page and read our minutes in the minutes section of the website.
